* Develops and implements effective communication strategies and campaigns.
* Develops messages for use by the project staff, and DARA associates when working with donors, partners, and especially the press.
* Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and communication channels with representatives of all types of media, including national and local news services and agencies, to ensure best possible cooperation with the Project.
* Drafts press releases, feature stories, briefing notes, talking points and other information material on the Project.
* Monitors information and services provided to media representatives to ensure their cooperation in promoting an accurate image of the project and its programmes among policy makers and the general public. Organizes press conferences and other public events.
* Manages the production of all material such as booklets, brochures and other publications as needed, including ensuring quality of content and design. Plans and oversees editorial production, reviews manuscripts for the Organization's public information adherence to objectives and standards.
* Edits reports written in English. Supervises the lay-outs for printing and web content.Requirements

* Advanced university degree in communications, journalism, international affairs or political science or its equivalent.
* Excellent writing and editing skills in English
* Knowledge of Spanish is an advantage.
* Minimum 7 years of international experience, including editor experience.
* Ability to develop communications and advocacy strategies to promote organization and thematic areas, as well a thorough knowledge of journalism and news cycles, of public information tools and techniques, and of the entire publication process, including electronic publishing; excellent writing and editing skills.
* Proven track record in generating media outreach and managing high visibility campaigns or projects. Advertising/Marketing experience would be an advantage.
* Knowledge of humanitarian action and evaluation.
* Experience in Project supervision and implementation is an asset.
* Full computer literacy.
