Qualified candidates are invited to apply for the position of Maternal & Newborn Child Health Specialist to be based in Nairobi but with an expectation of frequent travel in Somalia (70% of time in Somalia). The successful candidate will be offered a Temporary Fixed Term Appointment for 1 year (with high probability of extension). Further extensions will be subject to office priorities, satisfactory performance and funding availability.

Purpose of the Post:

Under the supervision of the Accelerated Child Survival and Development Coordinator, UNICEF Somalia Support Center, the post will be responsible for planning, implementation, supervision and monitoring of MNCH program.

Major duties and responsibilities:

Provide technical guidance to the three UNICEF zonal offices inside Somalia (North East, North West and Central South zones) in supporting the PHC delivery. Currently UNICEF provides assistance to 246 MCH and 540 Health Posts in Somalia.

(2) Lead the review, revision and development of technical guidelines for MNCH.

(3) Contribute to the training activities related to the MNCH program.

(4) Contribute to the development of MNCH monitoring indicators and its programmatic use.

Requirements:

* Advanced University degree in health related field.
* 5 years of experience in public health preferably at the international level.
* Fluency in English required.
