QUALIFICATIONS

Horn Relief is actively seeking candidates who are committed to its mission and vision.

Professional background
- 3 years of Financial Management experience, preferably on an Donor funded projects/ Programs.
- Relevant university degree, preferably in accounting or CPA (K) graduate OR other relevant educational background combined with relevant professional experience.

Essential skills
- Strong managerial skills to sustain the role as field accountant in and support to finance staff in field offices in Somalia
- Proven financial management, both in set-up, implementation and control experience,
- Proven experience of preparation of budgets and their management,
- Experience with INGOs in the same field,
- Good human resource development and management experience,
- Experience to develop linkages with INGOs, Government agencies and other stakeholders,
- Strong ability to work in a team and to communicate effectively
- Solid experience of work with windows based computer software, and modern accounting-systems
- Ability to manage dynamic sets of scenarios in relation to budgets and plans
- Proven skills and experience in report writing
- Understanding of issues in complex emergencies and crisis contexts
- Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical and negotiation skills
- Political and cultural awareness and experience of working where insecurity is a major issue
- Fluency in the English language, both oral and written
- Fluency in the Somali language, both oral and written a must

Personal qualities
- Ability to work under pressure, independently and with limited supervision
- Ability to work in multi cultural environments in emergency and development settings, with a teams
- Ability and willingness to work and live in ‘uneasy’ circumstances.
- Willingness to travel in the area of duty on a regular basis
- A focus on results, balanced with a sensitive and honest approach to people.
- And it helps if you have a sense of humour

Desired skills as an added advantage
- Knowledge of Somalia and/or the region
