Job Description

The Development Executive Group is currently assisting the Asian Development Bank in finding a Principal Social Development Specialist (Gender and Development).

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is dedicated to poverty reduction in Asia and the Pacific, a region that is home to two thirds of the world's poor. Established in 1966 and headquartered in Manila, ADB is owned and financed by its 67 member countries, of which 48 are from the region and 19 are from other parts of the globe.
ADB is currently looking for a Principal Social Development Specialist (Gender and Development) who will oversee the provision of policy advice, guidance and technical support to address Gender and Development (GAD) in all ADB operations; and oversee implementation of the Policy on GAD.

The organization is looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

- A university degree in Social Sciences preferably Anthropology, Sociology, Political Science or other related fields; preferably at post-graduate level or its equivalent
- At least 12 years of relevant experience in GAD policy development and its implementation in multi-lateral or bilateral development institutions
- Extensive knowledge and experience with incorporating GAD in programs and projects, in the Asia and Pacific region
- Experience working in development institutions and with women's organizations - Strong conceptual and technical skills in GAD
- Demonstrated leadership and proven experience in leading, managing and implementing GAD activities of development institutions
- Outstanding leadership qualities and strong ability to share technical knowledge and experience, identify and develop best practice and to work across organizational boundaries
- Strong interpersonal and client-orientation skills and ability to lead and inspire staff to address GAD across all ADB operations
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- International experience working in development in several countries
- Citizen of an ADB-member country

The Principal Social Development Specialist will be reporting to the Director of the Regional and Sustainable Development Department (RSDD).
