Within War Child 25% of the Funds are coming from institutional donors. This is targeted to become up to 40% in the near future.

In the (post) conflict areas (War Child Programme Areas, WPA’s), War Child works together with local partners. War Child aims that these partners will be able to work independently after some time. Therefore, Institutional Fundraising in the WPAs and capacity building in the field of Institutional Fundraising is essential. The Specialist will be responsible for this. Next to this, he or she coordinates multilateral institutional fundraising and institutional fundraising within the Netherlands.

The Specialist reports to the Manager Programmes Support and has regular contacts with the Head of Programmes, other thematic Specialists at Head Quarters (for example education Specialists) and the management of WPA’s.

For this position it is necessary to visit (post)conflict areas several times a year.

Responsibilities:

- Signalise and advise WPA’ s pro actively on opportunities for local or regional fundraising
-Support and train management in WPA’s in developing funding proposals and on donor management
- Advise the WPA’s in the development of annual plans
- Coordinate and develop funding proposals with Dutch donors and/or project proposals involving more than 1 WPA
- Develop and maintain a network of donor organisations (the Netherlands, Europe and the WPA’s) and act as account manager for certain institutional donors
- Advise the Management Team on strategic choices based on institutional fundraising developments
Required experience:

- Relevant academic background
- Knowledge and understanding of institutional donors and donor networks
- Experience in institutional fundraising (proven track record)
- Experience in training/capacity building

Required skills and attitude:

- Very good written communication skills in English
- Written communication skills in Dutch is preferred, in French and/or Spanish is an asset
- Advisory skills
- Ability to assess relations and to act in a diplomatic, tactical way
- Ability to identify fundraising opportunities and act upon them in a creative manner
- Result oriented
- Team player
- Willingness to travel
