Job Description

The Development Executive Group is currently assisting Population Services International (PSI) in finding candidates for the position Global Medical Director to be based in Washington, DC. Population Services International (PSI) is the world's leading non-profit social marketing organization, operating in more than 60 developing countries. PSI creates demand for essential health products and services by using private sector marketing techniques and innovative communications campaigns to motivate positive changes in health behavior.

Position Description

The Global Medical Director will be responsible for providing expertise in reproductive health clinical service delivery to PSI programs in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Help design innovative health service delivery models in resource-poor settings, for providing essential health services at scale. These will often, though not exclusively, involve franchising of private sector health care providers;
- Oversee development of guidelines for training of health providers;
- Oversee establishment of protocols for quality assurance, and monitor quality of care in clinical settings;
- Manage relations as needed with donor, government, NGO, and commercial entities; and
- Work closely with programs to ensure that the quality and coverage of service delivery interventions are being monitored closely, accurately and in ways that enable continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will have excellent analytical skills, the ability to work well under pressure, strong diplomatic and negotiation skills, and proven ability to produce results. The ideal candidate will also be able to work independently with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Requirements and Qualifications

- Medical degree;
- At least 10 years senior level experience managing international public health programs;
- 5+ work experience in a developing country;
- Familiarity with the international donor community;
- Fluency in English; French and/or Spanish preferred; and
- Willing to travel significantly (up to 50% during first year).
