Job Description

Oxfam International (OI) is a confederation of 13 organisations working with over 3000 partners in more than 100 countries to find lasting solutions to poverty and injustice. The OI Secretariat is based in Oxford, UK with advocacy offices in Washington DC, New York, Brussels and Geneva.

Oxfam seeks an experienced senior manager to lead the development of confederation growth in income and affiliate membership, in line with OI’s strategic plan 2007 – 12 and beyond.

You will support and work with senior staff in identifying and developing new and existing affiliates and strategic alliances. This will include establishment of appropriate legal and governance structures, agreements/licensing, and assisting with business plans for those organisations. You will also keep the confederation informed on external trends and innovative membership models.

Managing a team based in the UK, and working with senior managers and fundraisers across the confederation, you will strengthen the fundraising capacity of new and existing affiliates in order to achieve OI growth targets. You will identify internal and external opportunities and risks, lead and support inter-affiliate collaboration and encourage best practice and innovation.

You will have a strong track record in managing complex, diverse projects involving cross-functional international teams as well as building local and international institutional capacity. You will also bring a strong understanding of fundraising from institutions, direct marketing techniques or private sources, including foundations, events, corporations and individual major donors.

Strategic, with excellent interpersonal, leadership, negotiation and influencing skills, you will also be analytical and experienced in managing budgets and staff performance.

Direct experience of at least two fundraising streams, experience of establishing and building a new organisation and fluency in French and / or Spanish would all be advantageous.
