Job Description

The World Lung Foundation is dedicated to lung health globally and supports a wide range of international public health activities in the areas of tobacco control, tuberculosis, asthma, child lung health and HIV/AIDS. http://www.worldlungfoundation.org. WLF is one of five coordinating partners of the Bloomberg Global Initiative to Reduce Tobacco Use in low and middle-income countries where more than two-thirds of the world’s smokers live.

The organization and its activities are rapidly expanding. As part of this growth, The World Lung Foundation is committed to building a first rate worldwide communications division. Working closely with a key partner, the International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, the WLF is seeking a Communications Officer based in Delhi, India.

The communication Officer will report to the World Lung Foundation while working closely in a coordinated fashion with Resource Center staff and in country partners to be able to plan and execute communications activities as needed to achieve goals and objectives in India.
Specific Duties Include:
- Develop and maintain communications expertise and assistance to government and NGO stakeholders with respect to working with media agencies
- Assist government and NGO with media campaign planning and execution including activities required to set up and execute focus groups, work with advertising and creative agencies, guide media planning/placement
- Represent WLF and Union at meetings with government and NGO stakeholders
- Organize and Project manage media events with media agency as needed
- Provide media coaching to spokespeople
- Keep Union and WLF team apprised of relevant media stories and developments through a daily email summary
- Write press releases, statements, letters to the editor, questions and answers, fact sheets, columns, website copy, and other materials as needed to provide information to the press both proactively and reactively
- Assist in setting up trainings on mass media, media trainings and other trainings as needed
- Write reports, help create presentations and provide research assistance
- Provide regular content for the website
- Handle administrative responsibilities as needed

Qualities and qualifications:
- College degree and fast learner with three or more years of job related experience within health communications sector
- Strong interest in the issue of Tobacco Control
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to successfully manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in an international team environment with solid interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Excellent judgment, creative thinker, initiative taker
- Fluently speaking, reading and writing in both Hindi and English
- Successful candidate will have a solid knowledge of Microsoft Office package (Excel, word, PowerPoint, outlook)
- Writing samples requested

Preferred qualifications:
- advertising, marketing, public relations, health communications background

Compensation:
- Salary is commensurate with education, experience and salary history.
