This position is responsible for coal preparation engineering duties in the clean coal organization in support of mine operations to ensure maximum quality and productivity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. In this position, either directly or through others, the incumbent:
• Perform basic engineering tasks of design, evaluation, problem solving, analysis, and planning to support mine site operations.
• Comply with safety policy and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Interface with engineering staff, mine site operations groups, mine site maintenance groups and other TXU personnel to ensure consistent, practical, and effective engineering solutions.
• Participate in special projects and committee assignments as requested.
• Coordinate washability analyses of lignite as indication of density separation potential
• Work with supervisor and operations of dry separation facilities to increase production and quality improvements
• Perform data analysis and appropriate reports to communicate performance of cleaning facilities to site management
• Daily interaction with mine site operations to ensure best practices are being implemented in the field to deliver quality lignite
• Sampling coordination for and oversight of fuel quality special projects as they arise
• Interaction with site and long-term mine planning and geological groups to maximize cleaning of current deposits as well as review cleaning potential of future deposits
• Oversight of laboratory to enforce QA/QC and turnaround times outlined in contracts
• Provide professional engineering certification of designs and analysis as required (Sr. Position only).

Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
Minimal background and knowledge requirements:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
• Knowledge of mining methods and regulatory requirements.
• 5-10 years of coal preparation experience
• Utilizes analysis and problem solving skills to complete required tasks.
• Ability to use database, spreadsheet, word processing, and CAD software.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Project
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Professional Engineering license in Texas required to be considered for Sr Engineer position.
• Extensive analysis and problem solving skills to complete multiple projects incorporating teamwork and consensus resolution.
• Experience in dry cleaning techniques and technologies a plus.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: This position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment:
• Occasional long, irregular hours.
• Travel to all mine sites.
• Use of a PC and/or telephone at times throughout the day.
• Frequently working on projects outside in all types of weather conditions.
• Priority assignments with short lead-time requirements.
